Q. How to create multiple custom sliders of Smooth slider ?

Ans. On WordPress dashboard, Go to Smooth Slider =>Sliders Settings page => Basic Settings tab=> Miscellaneous section. You will see checkbox of Multiple Slider Feature, check it & save changes.

Now go back to WordPress dashboard, Go to Smooth Slider =>Sliders page. Click on Create New Slider . Assign name to new slider in Enter New Slider name text area. Then Click on Create New. You will see a new slider created.

You can create multiple sliders with different post/pages/media images and embed them on different pages of your WordPress site. Just remember, on one page, you can embed only one Slider at a time. But different pages can have different Sliders.

Sliders are for content & Settings are for skin & control :

Ans. Sliders are used to display your content while settings are used to control the appearance of your content in the slider. You will simply add your content (e.g. posts,images,videos) to a slider and setting will decide things like slider width, slide border, slide transition speed, etc.

Q. How to change the number of slides in Smooth?

Ans. On WordPress dashboard, Go to Smooth Slider => Settings page ==> Basic Settings tab => Basic Controls section. You will see option Number of Posts in the Slideshow textfield. Enter the number of slides you want to show there.

Q. How to customize the Slide animation length?

Ans. On WordPress dashboard, Go to Smooth Slider => Settings page ==> Basic Settings tab => Basic Controls section. You will see option Slide animation length. Enter the duration of animation as per your requirement & Save Changes.

Q. How to customize the slider width & height?

Ans. On WordPress dashboard, Go to Smooth Slider => Settings page ==> Basic Settings tab => Basic Controls section. You will see options slider width & slider height. Enter the width & height values in pixels as per your requirement. Save Changes.

Q. How to create scrolling navigation in Smooth?

Ans. On WordPress dashboard, Go to Smooth Slider => Settings page ==> Basic Settings tab => Basic Controls section. You will see option Navigation Buttons. You will find the checkbox of Show Prev/Next navigation arrows. Check it to show navigation arrows & Save Changes.

Q. How to Show go to slide number links?

Ans. On WordPress dashboard, Go to Smooth Slider => Settings page ==> Basic Settings tab => Basic Controls section. You will see option Navigation Buttons. You will find the radio buttons for Show go to slide number links or images. Select ‘none’ to hide slide number links & images. Select ‘Numbers’ to show the slide number links. Save Changes.

Q. How to replace slider title with slider name from Sliders page?

Ans. On WordPress dashboard, Go to Smooth Slider => Settings page ==> Slides Panel tab => Slider Title section. You will see option Pick Slider Title From. Change its value to Slider Name. Save Changes.

Q. How to retain specific HTML tags?

Ans. On WordPress dashboard, Go to Smooth Slider => Settings page ==> Basic Settings tab => Miscellaneous section. You will see option ‘Retain these html tags’. Enter the HTML tags you want to retain in this text field. e.g.<ul><li><a> etc.

Q. How to change Read More text & remove it completely?

Ans. On WordPress dashboard, Go to Smooth Slider => Settings page ==> Basic Settings tab => Miscellaneous section. You will see option ‘Continue Reading Text’ having default value as ‘Read More’ in its text field.

If you want to change it to “Continue Reading” then simply write ‘Continue Reading’ instead of ‘Read More’ & Save Changes.

If you want to remove ‘Read More’ completely; keep the text field vacant & Save Changes.

Q. How to Randomize slides in Smooth Slider?

Ans. On WordPress dashboard, Go to Smooth Slider => Settings page ==> Basic Settings tab => Miscellaneous section. You just have to check the checkbox of the option ‘Randomize Slides in Slider’.

Q. How to specify your own CSS rules to Smooth slider elements?

Ans.On WordPress dashboard, Go to Smooth Slider => Settings page ==> Basic Settings tab => Miscellaneous section. You will see option ‘Custom Styles’. You should write your own CSS code in the specified text field.

Ans. On WordPress dashboard, Go to Smooth Slider => Settings page ==> Slides Panel tab => Slider Title section. You will see option Default Title Text. Write the Title text for the slider in the specified text field. Also you will see option Pick Slider Title From. Change its value to Default Title Text. Save Changes.

Q. How to specify image url using custom field on edit post?

Ans. In the custom field of edit panel of the post you will see option ‘Custom Thumbnail Image(url)’. Specify your image url in the given text field.

Q. How to Optimize images loaded in Smooth slider?

Ans.On WordPress dashboard, Go to Smooth Slider => Settings page ==> Slides Panel tab => Thumbnail Image section. You will see option ‘WordPress Image Extract Size’. You can choose from the options Full, Large, Medium or Thumbnail as per your requirement. Save Changes.

e.g. If you select option ‘Thumbnail’ , the image loaded in the slider will be reduced to resolution of 150*150 & hence reducing its size.

Q. How to make Pure Image Slider?

Ans. On WordPress dashboard, Go to Smooth Slider => Settings page ==> Slides Panel tab => Thumbnail Image section. You will see ‘Make pure Image Slider’ checkbox. Check it & Save Changes.

Q. Why the slider images are not loading in the Smooth?

Ans. If the every checkbox of Image Pick Preferences option in Slides Panel tab of Thumbnail Image section is unchecked, then check these checkboxes for displaying the slider images.

Q. How to show or remove excerpt below the Slide Title?

Ans. On WordPress dashboard, Go to Smooth Slider => Settings page ==> Slides Panel tab => Slide Content section. You will find option Pick content From, If you want to show excerpt below the Slide Title, Choose ‘Post Excerpt’. If you want to remove excerpt below the Slide Title, Choose option other than ‘Post Excerpt’. Save Changes.

Q. How to control the length of excerpt text?

Ans. On WordPress dashboard, Go to Smooth Slider => Settings page ==> Slides Panel tab => Slider Content section. You will see option ‘Pick content From’. Choose its value as ‘Post Excerpt’.

Below it, yow will find options ‘Maximum content size (in words)’ & ‘Maximum content size (in characters)’ . You can specify maximum length of excerpt text here either in words or in characters or both; but having preference to length specified in words.

Q. How to enable or disable Responsive design?

Ans. On WordPress dashboard, Go to Smooth Slider => Settings page ==> Responsiveness tab => Responsive Design Settings section. You will see checkbox ‘Enable Responsive Design’. Check it to enable Responsive design, otherwise leave it unchecked.

Q. How to embed Category slider?

Ans. Put the below shortcode in the post/page editor to embed the Smooth Slider Category Slider (Slider displaying Category specific posts in chronologically reverse order) in the post/page content.

where ‘social-media’ (don’t forget the quotes) is the slug of the category from which you wish to pull the posts in reverse chronological order (latest is shown first).

Q. How to embed Recent Posts slider?

Ans. Put the below shortcode in the post/page editor to embed the Smooth Slider Recent Posts Slider (Slider displaying latest posts on the blog in chronologically reverse order) in the post/page content.

Ans. In case you use multiple sliders option,Put the below shortcode in the post/page editor

Q. How to create custom stylesheets & use them if you do not want inline styles?

Ans. On WordPress dashboard, Go to Smooth Slider => Settings page ==> Basic tab => Miscellaneous section. You will see option ‘Smooth Slider Styles to Use on Other than Post/Pages’. Change its value to ‘Sample’.

Now go to ‘Generated CSS’ tab=> CSS generated through these settings section. Copy the CSS generated into the Smooth Slider => CSS => Skins => sample => style.css file. Now open style.css file & customize it.
